A West New York home suffered heavy damage and the buildings on both sides were also damaged by a three-alarm blaze Wednesday morning.
The fire at 543 54th Street, between Polk and Madison streets, was reported just before 10 a.m. and quickly went to three alarms. The Marbella, a four-and-a-half story apartment building on one side; and what appears to be a multi-family home on the other side, suffered damage from the heat and flames.
The fire appears to have started on the second floor of the brick-faced, two-story home.
None of the residents were injured, but one North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue member was treated for heat exhaustion. Some residents at the scene passed out water bottles to the firefighters.
Fire departments from Jersey City and Hoboken covered NHRFR firehouses while NHRFR members battled the blaze. Details on the fire were not immediately available.
