Two Airplanes Collide Mid-Air over ID Lake

July 6, 2020
Two victims were recovered before both planes sank more than 125 feet under the waters of Lake Coeur d’Alene in north Idaho, with six passengers presumed dead.

A pair of planes collided in mid-air over Lake Coeur d’Alene in north Idaho, on Sunday, likely killing all eight passengers aboard both vessels.

Authorities in Kootenai County say that two victims were recovered from the aircrafts before they sank. A sonar team was able to locate both planes under 127 feet of water, but they won’t be recovered for another day or two. The remaining six passengers are currently unaccounted for, but they are presumed dead.

Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the collision but say there were many witnesses who saw or heard it, as many people were out on the lake during the holiday weekend.
