Two NY Firefighters Injured in 2-Alarm Blaze

One Buffalo firefighter was burned and another suffered a knee injury during a blaze that started in a vacant house before flames spread to two nearby homes that were occupied.

Two New York firefighters were injured during a two-alarm residential blaze early Thursday.

The fire started in a vacant house in Buffalo's Babcock neighborhood at about 2 a.m., WKBW-TV reports. Flames spread to two nearby homes that were occupied, and the residents were able to safely escape. 

While battling the blaze, a firefighter suffered a knee injury, and another was burned. Both were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover from their injuries.

The initial fire gutted the vacant home, and it was a complete loss. Damage to the occupied houses was esitmated at about $35,000.
