As many as five house fires erupted in a North Carolina ocean side town as Hurricane Isaias came ashore late Monday.
Crews from multiple departments, including Horry County Fire Rescue in South Carolina, responded to the residential fires in Ocean Isle Beach, WECT-TV reports. The fires began breaking out at around 11:40 p.m., while the hurricane made landfall at around 11:10 p.m.
Ocean Isle Beach Mayor Debbie Smith told WECT that four fires were on Driftwood Drive, and another was on East 4th Street. Flood waters were also around 3 feet in some parts of the town, she added.
It's unclear how the fires started. No injuries have been reported.
