A Colorado firefighter was injured during an early Monday blaze that led a partial structure collapse.
The fire broke out at a shop/outbuilding in Berthoud at around 4:30 a.m., the fire protection district stated in an online update. When crews arrived at the scene, they could see large flames shooting through the building that already had brought part of the structure down.
Firefighters used fog nails to help put out the flames, and the fire was under control in about an hour. But crews remained at the scene for approximately five hours because of the shop's size and the extensive work needed to be done to extinguish lingering hot spots.
During the overhaul operations, a firefighter suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. He is expected to make a fast and full recovery, according to the district.
No other injuries were reported. The fire didn't threaten any other structures, and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
