Three Maryland firefighters were injured during a fatal residential blaze Monday.
Prince George's County crews responded to a fire at a two-story single-family home in Laurel at about 7:30 a.m., according to an online update by the department. When they reached the scene, they found that the first floor had partially collapsed and encountered "excessive storage conditions."
After extensive operations to make the interior safe, firefighters conducted a search of the house. They discovered the body of a man inside, the department said.
During the call, a firefighter was taken to the hospital for an unspecified injury. Two other firefighters also were taken to the hospital for evaluation, according to the department.
Crews from Howard County, Anne Arundel and Montgomery counties also helped battle the fire.
