California crews made quick work of fire that broke out in a residential high-rise building Monday, forcing some residents to evacuate or shelter in place.

The fire broke out at about 11:30 a.m. in a fifth-floor unit of a 12-story apartment building in Oakland, the East Bay Times reports. Video posted online by Oakland Firefighters, Local 55, captured thick plumes of smoke pouring out of the structure.

A woman who lived in the unit where the fire started suffered minor burns in the incident, but she requested her own medical treatment. A cat suffering from smoke inhalation was rescued by firefighters, who provided the feline with oxygen before taking the animal to a shelter.

Crews eventually were able to get the flames knocked down in about 15 minutes after reaching the scene. The fire—believed to have been sparked in connection with a Christmas tree—caused around $100,000 in damage to the apartment where it originated.
