Roughly 40 Dallas firefighters responded to the call at a church in the city's Pleasant Grove area, and flames could be seen shooting through the roof as the fire significantly damaged the structure.

A Pleasant Grove church is significantly damaged after a fire broke out early Thursday morning.

Dallas Fire-Rescue units were called to the fire around 1:30 a.m. at the New Light Church at 9314 Elam Road, near North Prairie Creek Road, department spokesman Jason Evans said.

Firefighters could see flames coming through the roof of the church when they arrived, Evans said. About 40 firefighters responded to the scene.

No injuries were reported, but the church was significantly damaged, Evans said.

Firefighters were still working at the scene as of 3:30 a.m.

Investigators are still working to determine what caused the fire, Evans said.
