One Dead, Two Seriously Injured in Massive MA Fire

Lowell firefighters responded amid temperatures in the teens to a massive 3-alarm fire that damaged several dwellings and displaced over 40 residents.

One person was killed, two others were flown to area hospitals with serious injuries, and over 40 residents were displaced after a massive 3-alarm fire in Lowell early Wednesday morning.

NBC Boston is reporting that the fire at 98 Westford St. broke out overnight at around 3:30 am and spread to two nearby buildings, and Lowell fire crews had to cope with temperatures in the teens for several hours during the firefight.

News video from WCVB showed a portion of one dwelling's roof collapsing while firefighters worked to douse the flames.
