March 15, 2021
Firefighters responded amid heavy smoke after a fire broke out on the roof of a high-rise under construction in the Northwest section of D.C. on Monday.

D.C. Fire & EMS crews used ladder trucks to ascend to the top of a high-rise under construction when fire broke out near the roof of the unfinished structure.

WUSA News reports that D.C. fire officials said they encountered "heavy fire and smoke" on the roof of the multi-story building site at 3rd and I streets in Northwest D.C. on Monday afternoon, and images on social media showed thick, black smoke that could be seen from miles away.

Firefighters eventually contained the blaze to the roof with no downward extension, and there were no injuries reported.
