MD Firefighter Suffers Burns in Roof Collapse During Fire

A Prince George's County firefighter was injured and taken to a trauma center after a mayday call during a fire at a two-story single-family home in Landover.

A Maryland firefighter was injured in a mayday call following a roof collapse during a residential fire early Sunday.

The fire at a two-story, single-family home in Landover broke out at around 4 a.m., the Prince George's County Fire Department stated in an online post. Flames were showing from the house's attached garage, and the residents were able to get to safety on their own.

During the call the roof collapsed, and a mayday was called. A firefighter suffered burns in the collapse and was taken to a trauma center, according to the department. 

No details were released concerning the extent of the injuries or the firefighter's condition.

Crews were able to get the fire under control in about a half hour. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
