Man Accused of Starting Fires that Injured NJ Firefighters

A 35-year-old man started four fires in Orange — one of which injured two firefighters.
Marvin L. Lewter, of Newark, set two houses on fire on the 300 block of Henry Street on Nov. 24 and then ignited two more on Monday, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday .
One of the fires on Monday—at one of the same houses on Henry Street—injured a pair of firefighters. A third fire on the 400 block of nearby Codner Street also had to be extinguished.

Lewter is charged with four counts of aggravated arson and two counts of aggravated assault. Officials didn’t disclose a motive but noted the investigation is continuing.
Lewter doesn’t know the occupants of the homes, a prosecutor’s office spokeswoman said.
