The heat from a house fire on Long Island ruptured two propane tanks and sparked an explosion that had flames spread to a second home and injured at least three people.

A pair of propane tanks ruptured and exploded during a residential fire in New York on Thursday.

Crews responded to a fire that broke out at a home at about 8:30 p.m. in the East Meadow area of Long Island, WPIX-TV reports. The call came on the heels of firefighters battling a massive 10-alarm fire at a commercial waste facility in Westbury and a fatal house in Garden City.

Video from the scene captured the explosion as the heat from a house fire ruptured two propane tanks, causing them to explode. Flames then spread to a second nearby home, according to WCBS-TV.

One person was taken to the hospital with minor burns. Two other people were injured and treated at the scene.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire by about 11 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
