Citrus County firefighters put out a burning Hummer H2 that caught fire soon after the driver had filled up four 5-gallon gas cans at a Homosassa station.

Florida firefighters put out a burning Hummer when it caught fire after the driver filled up several gas cans.

The incident happened shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday in Homosassa after a driver filled up four 5-gallon gas cans at a filling station, WFLA-TV reports. When Citrus County Fire Rescue crews reached the scene, they found a 2004 Hummer H2 on fire and were able to quickly put out the flames.

The driver was injured but refused to be taken to the hospital, although medics had advised it, according to the department. It was not known how serious the driver's injuries were.

Tampa Bay officials have been urging residents not to hoard or "panic buy" gasoline as some stations in the country face possible shortages. The gas supply was affected by a cyber attack on the Colonial Pipeline, which provides much of the fuel to the South and East Coast.

Nearly all of Florida's fuel supply, however, comes from cargo ships, according to WFLA.
