Teens Charged in House Fire that Injured NY Firefighter

A Syracuse firefighter suffered second-degree burns while battling one of four vacant house fires that were intentionally started around the city over two days.

Three teens were charged in connection with a string of arsons early Sunday and early Monday, including a house fire that injured a New York firefighter.

The fires were set in vacant homes around Syracuse, WSTM-TV reports. The first fire happened just before 4 a.m., and three others occurred between 12:49 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. Monday.

A firefighter suffered second-degree burns on his left arm while battling the second fire that broke out. He was taken to the hospital and later released.

While crews were tackling the third fire, they received a call about a fourth fire that had been set down the street.

Police arrested two 17-year-old boys in connection with the four fires. A 14-year-old girl also was arrested in connection with three of the fires.

One boy was charged with burglary, arson, assault and a probation warrant violation, while the other was charged with burglary, arson and assault. The girl was charged with burglary and arson.

The girl and one of the boys had been reported missing in western New York, according to WSTM.
