AZ Firefighters Shocked by Illegal Electrical System at Fire

Tucson Electric Power needed to secure an improper electrical system that shocked three Drexel Heights firefighters during a fire involving three vehicles and a mobile home.

Arizona firefighters battling a fire Tuesday involving a multiple vehicles and a mobile home were shocked and burned by an illegally run electrictiy set up 

Drexel Heights crews responded to a call concerning three vehicles that had caught fire and spread to an empty single-wide mobile used for storage in Tucson, KOLD-TV reports. Strong winds and a heavy fuel load created difficulties for firefighters, who used two handlines, a deck gun and foam to get control of the flames.

While battling the fire, firefighters suffered shocks from an electrical system that was illegally set up at the scene. No details were released about how crews discovered the illegal electricals or the extent of the injuries.

A firefighter also suffered second-degree burns to the wrist during the call. It's not clear if the burns were from the illegal electrical system or the fire.

Once the illegal electrcials were discovered, Tucson Electric Power was called in to shut down and secure the system to prevent any furhter injuries. The casue of the fire is under investigation.
