Sheriff's deputies discovered the four-alarm blaze at a hay storage shed in Chilton, and firefighters spent over half a day removing the burning material and putting out the flames.

Wisconsin firefighters worked for over half a day and used more than a million gallons of water to put out a four-alarm shed fire Thursday.

The fire broke out at around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at a shed used to store hay in Chilton, the fire department stated in an online update. Sheriff's deputies discovered the blaze, and the incident was quickly raised to a fourth alarm.

“Removal of the burning material and remaining structure was a well-coordinated event,” the department stated.

Crews worked for 15 hours to put out the flames, and tenders brought in 1.4 million gallons of water to the scene. The shed and all of its content were considered a loss, and  stretch of a nearby highway were shutdown while firefighters worked.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
