A Tennessee firefighter was injured when he was struck by debris at a two-alarm fire Thursday.
Nashville crews responded to a fire at the Stone Ridge Apartments at about 7 p.m., WSMV-TV reports. The fire only affected one building in the complex, and flames went out a window, up the building's side, into the roof and across the structure.
During the call, a firefighter was injured when a piece of debris fell on him. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.
Another firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and was treated at the scene.
“When you put them inside of a fire, essentially put them in a box with fire and add water, you’ve got steam, So, you can imagine that those conditions are extremely hot, extremely fatiguing,” Nashville Fire Department public information officer Kendra Loney told WSMV.
Fifteen people were displaced by the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
