MN Firefighters Battle Recycling Plant Blaze

St. Paul firefighters needed about 90 minutes to douse a fire that broke out along the exterior of a metal recycling facility and extended to the building.

Sep. 1—It took about 90 minutes for St. Paul firefighters to extinguish a fire Tuesday evening in an industrial area along the Mississippi River southeast of downtown.

When firefighters arrived at metal recycler AMG Resources around 6 p.m., they found a large pile of recycling material on fire outside the building in the 1300 block of Red Rock Road. The fire had extended to the building, causing damage, according to a press release from the St. Paul Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the report of black smoke coming from a commercial building on the 1300 block of Red Rock Road. It took approximately 90 minutes to extinguish the fire. There were no reports of injuries. The fire is under investigation.

Employees who responded to the scene used heavy equipment to push material out of the building.
