A wind-driven vegetation fire spread to a commercial office building in San Bernardino on Sunday, causing significant damage to the structure.

A vegetation fire erupted amid windy conditions in San Bernardino and spread to a commercial office building, causing extensive damage to the structure.

According to the Press-Enterprise, San Bernardino County fire crews responded to a report of a fire in the 100 block of East Hospitality Lane around 4:45 p.m. on Sunday and discovered the brush fire threatening multiple commercial structures in an office park.

Officials said the fire quickly spread to nearby palm trees and then extended onto a two-story 35,000-square-foot office complex. The blaze continued to spread to other nearby trees and then to an outbuilding and the attic space of the complex.

Firefighters initially attacked the fire from the roof and the interior, but eventually the structural integrity of the building was compromised and crews retreated into a defensive attack.

Firefighters had the flames under control in about 90 minutes, and there were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
