All four people aboard a single engine plane lost their lives when the aircraft crashed and burst into flames at an airport in Georgia on Friday afternoon.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the crash happened around 1 p.m. shortly after the small Cessna 210 took off at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport in Chamblee just northeast of Atlanta.

About 15 DeKalb County firefighters stationed at the airport were on the scene quickly to douse the flames, Capt. Jaeson Daniels told the newspaper.

Several witnesses were eating lunch at an airport restaurant adjacent to the runway and looked on in horror as the tragedy unfolded.

The FAA confirmed that the four who were killed were the only people on board the six-seat plane. Their identities have not been released.
