Boston Crews Respond to Ruptured Steam Pipe

Two workers were injured when a pipe in the basement of a downtown steam plant ruptured and sent white clouds billowing through the building.

Oct. 16—A ruptured pipe in a downtown steam plant sent white clouds billowing and two workers to the hospital.

A Boston Fire Department spokesman said emergency responders were called to the Veolia steam plant at 165 Kneeland St. on Friday morning as steam began to billow. A second alarm was struck by 9:45 a.m., bringing more firefighters to the scene.
