Norfolk Fire and Rescue responded to a 3-alarm fire Monday morning in the West Ghent neighborhood of Norfolk. Several people were rescued, according to Battalion Chief Stephanie Ramsey.
Dispatchers say fire crews were notified around 4:34 a.m. about a fire in the 900 block of Greenway Court.
Ramsey confirmed six people were rescued from the Wayne & Stanfield Apartments, a 15-unit building. Four people were rescued by ladder crews and two people were rescued from inside the building. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Ramsey said.
Ramsey says fire crews are still on scene working to contain the flames before fire control units can respond.
