Firefighters rescued six people from a well-involved structure fire Saturday night in Manchester that claimed one person's life.
Authorities confirm an occupant of the structure and a firefighter with burns were transported via helicopter to a Boston hospital.
Fire officials said heavy fire and smoke conditions were present upon arrival with occupants hanging out of third-story windows needing to be rescued. Crews used ladders to make multiple rescues in a part of town with limited space while having to perform under difficult fire conditions.
While conducting searches, firefighters located the fire victim on the second floor of the multi-family occupancy. In addition to those flown to Boston via medivac, multiple people were treated at the scene.
