Extra Crispy: UT Firefighters Tackle Bacon Hauler Fire

Parts of Interstate 80 in Salt Lake City were closed after a semi carrying meat products caught fire. The semi driver noticed the fire and was able to pull over and move to safety prior to the fire department arriving.

Firefighters worked to control the fire with handlines and used power tools to open the trailer and locate pockets of fire. The contents challenged firefighters as the fire created a greasy residue in the operational area.

Fire companies worked for some time to open and remove the trailer's content and ensure the fire was out, andstate highway officials worked through the day to clean up the mess left behind.
