VA Supermarket Fire Reaches Two Alarms

Newport News fire crews battled a two-alarm fire with multiple aerials in a two-story commercial building housing a market.

A two-story commercial building in Newport News caught fire today around 10:20 a.m., on the 2600 block of Marshall Avenue.

Crews set up a defensive attack using multiple aerial waterways and handlines as firefighters surrounded the building to control the fire.

The fire was located on the corner of a busy intersection blocking traffic in both directions, and no injuries have been reported.
