Fire Destroys Historic NY Inn Building

Nov. 29, 2021
A Sunday fire destroyed the Dutch Barn at the Kaaterskill Inn, a popular Catskill destination built in the 1850s.

A weekend fire destroyed a historic building at a Catskill bed and breakfast.

The Kiskatom Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at the Katterskill Inn early Sunday afternoon.

In a Facebook post by the Kiskatom Fire Department, flames had already burned through the roof of the historic Dutch Barn structure before firefighters arrived. The Dutch Barn, built in the 1850s, included six rooms and several common spaces.

Firefighters used multiple handlines in an attempt to control the fire as it tore through the building, but it was gutted by the fire.

Multiple departments, including Palenville, Catskill and Haines Falls assisted with this fire.
