Cleveland Restaurant Featured in Superman Movie Damaged in Fire
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Firefighters extinguished a blaze Tuesday in a Slavic Village building that houses the Red Chimney restaurant, which was recently featured in the latest “Superman” movie.
The building that houses the Red Chimney restaurant sustained about $300,000 in damages from the fire, according to Cleveland Fire spokesman Capt. Mike Norman.
The building at 6501 Fleet Avenue caught fire about 11:15 a.m., Norman said.
While the restaurant itself didn’t catch fire, it sustained severe water damage after flames erupted in a bedroom of one of the two apartments located above the establishment, Norman said.
Four residents have been displaced as a result of the fire. One person was home when the fire started, but escaped without injury. No other injuries were reported, Norman said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
he Red Chimney gained attention after being featured in James Gunn’s “Superman” movie, which was released last month. The restaurant appeared in a scene with actor Nathan Fillion, who portrayed the character Guy Gardner, also known as Green Lantern.
The restaurant closed following the fire, Norman said.
