After 70 years of serving the community, the end is around the corner for the Schuyler Heights Fire Company.

Citing conflicts with the Schuyler Heights Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners, fire officials say they have little choice but to close the bay doors.

"It is the result of sustained and escalating circumstances that have rendered the Fire Company unable to effectively operate, govern itself, or fulfill its mission to protect life and property within the community,” Schuyler Heights officials wrote in a statement, according to WRGB.

The board's recent actions, including failing to approve the applications of eight volunteers, has led to a morale issue.

The shutdown will be effective May 17 If approved by the court and the New York state attorney general.
