The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF), in conjunction with Stonehouse Media and the East Hartford, CT, Fire Department, is pleased to announce the addition of a new training module on the Fire Hero Learning Network.
“Responding to Violent Incidents” is the latest endeavor in the NFFF’s efforts to reduce preventable line-of-duty deaths and injuries for firefighters. Release of the program coincides with the NFFF’s commitment to Firefighter Life Safety Initiative #12 (National protocols for response to violent incidents should be developed and championed) and provides a new resource for departments to use as they address this emerging response problem. This one-hour, self-paced program provides participants with a basic knowledge of best practices gleaned from fire departments across the country and provides recommendations in-line with NFPA 3000™ (PS) Standard for an Active Shooter/Hostile Event Response Program.
NFFF Executive Director Chief Ron Siarnicki said of the program; “Firefighters face a myriad of challenges every day. The ’Responding to Violent Incidents’ Training Module is our latest effort to bring valuable training to ensure firefighters return to their families, friends and loved ones at the end of each tour of duty.”
