Raw video shows Los Angeles crews using an aerial to save an individual trying to escape the flames and clinging to the outside of a 25-story apartment building.

Firefighters rescued people from a burning Los Angeles high-rise Wednesday, a blaze that injured eight people, including a 3-month-old baby.

Crews responded to the blaze just after 8:30 a.m. at a 25-story apartment building in the city's Sawtelle neighborhood, the Los Angeles Times reports. Flames were seen coming from at least 10 units, and the fire is believed to have started on the sixth floor.

Initially, fire officials had said some people had jumped from the building, but they later said that residents had only jumping to escape the flames. A video posted by TMZ shows firefighters using an aerial to rescue one resident who was climbing on the outside of the building, escaping flames and thick black smoke coming from a burning apartment. Once the individual reaches the ladder, cheers can be heard from eyewitnesses.

The Los Angeles Fire Department also used a helicopter to rescue residents from the building's roof. It was the first time the fire helicopter was used for rescues, according to the Times.

Firefighters were able to control the blaze just before 10 a.m., and battled strong winds in the area. Crews were still continuing to look for other victims, the Times added.
