Fast-Moving 4-Alarm Duplex Blaze Injures Two Boston FFs

Around 100 firefighters responded to the fire, which started in the basement of the duplex's left side and caused about $2 million in damage to the South Boston building.

A fast-moving, four-alarm blaze broke out at a duplex Wednesday, injuring two Boston firefighters and causing around $2 million in damage.

Around 100 Boston firefighters responded to the blaze, which started just before 5:30 p.m. in the basement of the left side the South Boston duplex, the Boston Globe reports. Although the building's left side was unoccupied while it was under construction, six adults and a child lived on the right side, and they were displaced by the fire.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries battling the blaze, WBZ-TV reports. One firefighter received a large cut, and another was treated for heat exhaustion.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
