Firefighters from multiple agencies battled a massive blaze that quickly burned down an Idaho home Wednesday night.
Crews responded to the fire at around 11:20 p.m. at a 2,896-square-foot residence a few miles north of Ashton, the East Idaho News reports. One person had been inside the house when the blaze broke out in the garage, and he was able to safely escape the flames.
“He heard what he called as a pop,” Fremont County Fire Marshall Kieth Richey told East Idaho News. “When he went and looked in the garage, there was a fire that started. He went in and got his car keys, and the entire garage was engulfed.”
“If he had been asleep, he wouldn’t have known,” he added.
Firefighters from the North Fremont and South Fremont fire districts used tankers to shuttle enough water to put out the flames. Fremont County EMS and the sheriff's department also assisted at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
