Texas firefighters battled a two-alarm apartment complex blaze early Thursday that one resident described as a "big 30-foot tornado of fire coming off the roof."
The fire broke out at about 4:15 a.m. at the Cobble Creek Apartments in Tomball, KTRK-TV reports. The blaze began in the complex's top unit and spread rapidly because of a shared attic.
Nearly 50 firefighters battled the blaze, Springs Happenings reports. Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames bursting through the roof when they reached the scene.
An apartment resident told KTRK that the flames appeared to be a "big 30-foot tornado coming off the roof." The blaze also was so large that it could be spotted on Houston's traffic cameras.
No one was injured in the fire.
