Three Houston firefighters were injured by falling debris while battling a residential blaze on the city's southeast side early Wednesday.
Crews responded to a fire that broke out at a single-story house at around 2 a.m. near Hobby Airport on the city's southeast side, KHOU-TV reports. Flames had engulfed the home by the time firefighters arrived at the scene.
As firefighters aggressively worked to put out the flames, part of the house collapsed. Falling debris struck three firefighters, who were taken to the hospital, and their condition wasn't known.
District Chief Chris Chavez told KHOU that firefighters needed to be rotated out often because of the humidity and heat. The fire eventually was under control after about an hour.
