Las Vegas Firefighter Injured in 2-Alarm House Blaze

A Las Vegas firefighter was taken to the hospital for potential smoke inhalation, and he was among three people injured during the fire that tore through two houses.

A Las Vegas firefighter was among three people injured during a two-alarm blaze that tore through two homes early Saturday.

The fire broke out shortly before 12:30 a.m. at a house on Eugene Cernan Street, the department said in a release. Heavy flames came from the garage of the one-story, wood frame house, and they spread to a neighboring house.

Once both homes caught fire, more units were called in, and the call was raised to a second alarm. Thick smoke spread through the air, hindering visibility and breathing for firefighters. 

A firefighter was taken to the hospital for treatment for potential smoke inhalation. Two civilians also were injured during the fire, with one person suffering burns and another suffering smoke inhalation, according to the department.

Las Vegas firefighters received support from the Clark County Fire Department. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
