Bottle-Throwing Partiers Delay NY Firefighters Headed to Crash

Illegally parked vehicles and revelers tossing beer bottles at their apparatus slowed down Buffalo firefighters who ran into a street block party while responding to a fatal car accident.

New York firefighters were delayed responding to an accident by revelers at a block party who threw bottles at the first responders over the weekend.

While on their way to a crash scene along Laurel Street early Sunday, Buffalo crews were blocked by illegally parked cars on both sides of the road, WKBW-TV reports. The driver of the fire apparatus honked the horn to try to get someone to move the civilian vehicles.

Instead, partiers betgan throwing beer bottles at the apparatus. Firefighters eventually were able to make it to the crash scene, but they were delayed by at least three minutes, Fire Commissioner Bill Renaldo told WKBW.

Once firefighters reached the accident, they found a car that had crashed into a home with the driver trapped inside. Bystanders were trying to pull the driver from the vehicle, but she was pronounced  dead at the scene, according to WKBW.
