St. Louis Firefighter Injured in Intense Commercial Blaze

Crews responded to a fire that erupted at a St. Louis auto and tire shop, shooting flames through the roof and spreading to a neighboring building.

A St. Louis firefighter was injured during an intense commercial blaze that damaged two buildings early Friday.

Crews responded to the fire at an auto and tire shop at about 3:40 a.m., KDSK-TV reports. Flames erupted through the roof before spreading to a nearby building.

Firefighters went into a defensive attack against the blaze, using two master streams and two hand lines, according to the department. The fire was put out in more than hour, shortly before 5 a.m.

A firefighter suffered a burn during the call and taken to the hospital. The injury was not considered life-threatening.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
