Ceiling Collapse Injures ND Firefighter During 3-Alarm Blaze
A North Dakota firefighter was injured when a stairwell ceiling collapsed during a three-alarm blaze Sunday.
Crews responded to the large fire that broke out at a 24-unit apartment building in Fargo, The Associated Press reports. Wind gusts reaching more than 30 mph fueled the flames and caused the blaze to spread quickly.
While searching the building for occupants, a firefighter was struck by a collapsing stairwell ceiling. The first responder suffered minor injuries from the collapse.
All the building's occupants were able to escape the blaze, and firefighters were able to rescue some of the pets trapped inside, according to the AP. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
