A Los Angeles City firefighter was injured as crews worked for more than 90 minutes to put out a massive fire that erupted at a commercial structure late Wednesday.
The fire broke out just before 10 p.m. at a one-story building in the city's Chatsworth neighborhood, according to the department. Video from the scene shows firefighters using aerials to attack the flames that engulfed and collapsed the building's roof.
More than 120 firefighters took a defensive mode and used large-diameter handlines to keep the fire from spreading to nearby buildings. The department's RS3 firefighting robot also was at the scene to provide possible help with interior operations.
One firefighter suffered a minor burn injury during the incident and was taken to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The 28,556 square-foot building was built in 1981, and following the fire, the Department of Building and Safety red-tagged the concrete structure over safety concerns, the department said.
