Two Massachusetts firefighters were injured rescuing two grandparents from a residential fire early Wednesday.
The fire broke out in the basement of a two-story house in Somerville, WBZ-TV reports. Flames then spread throughout the house, causing extensive
“Upon arrival we had heavy fire conditions in the basement spreading up the rear stairway," Somerville Fire Chief Charles Breen said at a press conference. "Two older occupants trapped on the second floor in the rear, they were rescued over ladders."
Two firefighters were taken to the hospital following the rescue, and their injuries weren't considered life-threatening. The older couple also were expected to be all right, according to WBZ.
