One man suffered minor burns after a Las Vegas homeless camp he was sleeping in caught fire late Tuesday.
The fire started at around 11:30 p.m. at a homeless camp erected near the rear of a large warehouse along railroad tracks, the Las Vegas Fire Department stated in a release. Along with Las Vegas firefighters, crews from the Clark County and North Las Vegas fire departments also responded to the call.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they were met by the man who had been burned. The fire grew in intensity, eventually being elevated to a second alarm.
More than 75 firefighters and 30 pieces of equipment from all three departments were sent to the scene. Crews worked for nearly three hours to put out the flames, and the fire was extinguished at around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Las Vegas Fire Department.
Damage to the warehouse was estimated at $1 million, the department added.
