A Chicago firefighter and two women were injured during a fire that broke out on the second floor of a high-rise apartment building early Wednesday.

Firefighters responded to a call just before 6 a.m. at a 22-story apartment building in the city's Kenwood neighborhood, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Crews were able to keep the fire from spreading from the single unit where it erupted, but 10 ambulances were sent to the scene as a precaution.

An 84-year-old woman and 60-year-old woman were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and treated for smoke inhalation. A firefighter also was taken to the hospital, but a department spokesman said she didn't have any details about the nature and extent of the injuries.
