Roughly 75 D.C. Fire and EMS firefighters battled a fire that collapsed much of a three-story house near Embassy Row and spread to two nearby homes.

A Washington, D.C., firefighter was injured while battling a two-alarm fire that tore through a three-story home early Wednesday.

The fire broke out shortly before 1 a.m. at a renovated home near the district's Embassy Row, Fox News reports. Around 75 firefighters responded to the call, and flames "largely collapsed" the burning house and spread to two nearby residences.

A firefighter was taken to the hospital with a "medical condition," according to an online update by D.C. Fire and EMS. No details were released concerning the firefighter's condition, but a department spokesman told Fox News that the injury was minor.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Work by investigators at the scene was being delayed because of the "dangerous condition of the structure," the department stated.
