Firefighters worked for hours to contain a massive fire at a chemical warehouse in Texas on Wednesday.
The fire broke out at about 4 p.m.at K-Solv, a chemical distribution company in Channelview, the Houston Chronicle reports. Video footage from the scene showd heavy flames coming from the facility, and thick black smoke could be seen for miles and was even picked up on weather radar.
The building housed toxic chemicals, such as toulene and xylene, and a shelter-in-place order was issued for nearby Lakeside Park Estates and Lakeview Homes between 6 and 8 p.m., according to KHOU-TV. Crews that included the Channelview and Houston fire departments battled the flames for around three hours, The Associated Press reports.
No injuries were reported, and K-Solv officials reported that all of the warehouse's were accounted for, according to KHOU. Although the stay-in-place order was lifted, Harris County Judge Lisa Hidalgo said air quality in the area would continued to be monitored.
The cause of the fire is under investigaton.
