A ceiling collapse during a residential fire injured an Iowa firefighter Wednesday.
The fire broke out shortly before 5 p.m. at a house in Des Moines, KLJB-TV reports. The home was unoccupied when crews arrived at the scene to begin putting out the flames.
While battling the fire, a firefighter was injured when he was struck on the head from a collapsing ceiling. He was taken to the hospital and later released to recover at home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
