RI Firefighter among Two Injured in Mobile Home Fire

Pawtucket firefighters made quick work of a fire that broke out in a mobile home, preventing flames from spreading to nearby trailers.

A Rhode Island firefighter and a resident were injured in a mobile home fire Wednesday.

The fire broke out shortly before 7 p.m. at the Maple Meadows Trailer Park in Pawtucket, WPRI-TV reports. Crews were able to make quick work of the fire, preventing flames from spreading to nearby trailers.

“My guys averted a disaster here, to be honest with you,”  Battalion Chief William Conroy told WPRI. “These trailers are so close together that, if it wasn’t for their quick work, we could’ve lost the whole trailer park.”

A firefighter was injured during the call and taken to the hospital. A person inside the burning trailer also was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The fire destroyed the trailer, and the heat damaged several nearby trailers. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
