8 injured, including 2 officers
11 a.m. —Two police officers were shot during Monday’s active shooter situation in downtown Louisville, one of which is in surgery, according to Deputy Chief Col. Paul Humphrey with LMPD.

The other officer’s injuries were not critical, according to Humphreys.

The shooter was declared dead on scene, Humphreys said. It was unclear if the suspect was killed by a Louisville officer or by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“I want to thank all of the first responders, the brave and heroic, men and women, of LMPD, who thanks to their efforts, quickly responded to the emergency call, and as you just heard from Paul Humphreys, without a doubt, their actions saved lives,” said Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg during a press conference.
