Jul. 13—An unconscious man was rescued from an apartment fire Wednesday night in northwest Houston, according to the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office.
Firefighters arrived at the apartment complex in the 7600 block of Fallbrook Drive around 11:15 p.m. and found the fire already covering the outside of the building, according to Capt. James Singleton of the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office.
The firefighters immediately began extinguishing the fire and once more backup arrived, they began searching the building, which is when they found the man, Singleton said.
The man was found in a downstairs apartment and was taken out by the firefighters, who started to perform CPR on him. The man was taken to a hospital and a pulse had been recovered, Singleton said.
A small dog was also recovered from the fire, and he was evaluated by paramedics before being returned to his owner.
Fire crews were still extinguishing the fire going into early Thursday and had been working with the management of the apartment complex to make sure everyone was accounted for.
The fire was caused by an electrical failure in the ceiling of a first-floor patio, according to Harris County Fire Marshal's Office investigators.
