A massive blaze ripping through a mattress warehouse in North Brunswick on Wednesday afternoon has forced the evacuation of nearby homes and drawn firefighters from neighboring counties to help battle the inferno.
Flames could be seen shooting into the sky from Dream Well Inc., a mattress company located on the 600 block of Nassau Street. Explosions could also be heard from the property.
The bulk of the fire appeared to be focused on the rear portion of the warehouse, near homes on Jefferson Avenue.
Multiple fire agencies were on the scene on Wednesday shortly after 4 p.m.
The warehouse is bordered on two sides by homes across Nassau Street and on side streets off Georges Road.
North Brunswick police issued an alert around 4:45 p.m. asking “motorists and pedestrians avoid the area of Georges Road and Nassau Street due to a warehouse fire on Nassau Street.”
North Brunswick officials and Dream Well could not immediately be reached for comment.
